In 2017, Toh Ying Xuan visited SP Open House and stumbled upon the Optometry course. There, she learnt about the different eye diseases and took a photo of the ‘back of her eye’ aka fundus photography. The Edgefield Secondary alumna was intrigued and found it interesting that “so many diseases can happen within an eye”. And, with the blink of an eye, she is now a third-year student in our Diploma in Optometry (DOPT)!
Currently interning at the newly launched Myopia Centre in Bedok, Ying Xuan is enjoying every bit of her course! As part of her internship at Myopia Centre, she performs routine eye checks and tests for the public. She shares, “Working alongside professional optometrists and ophthalmologists has definitely exposed me to more real life scenarios and learning opportunities. The DOPT journey definitely isn’t easy, but it is fufilling with supportive lecturers and friends.”
