At age 14, Julian Kang was intrigued by nuclear fusion and how it could be used as a source of clean energy to solve the world’s energy needs. Inspired by a teenage TED talk speaker who recreated nuclear fusion, Julian delved even deeper into the subject.
Very soon, he developed the desire to use Engineering for the greater good. Julian then chose SP’s Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (DEEE) after his O levels to help him realise his dream.
In SP, Julian performs outstandingly. Not only did he earn an SP Engineering scholarship, he also secured an internship at DSO National Laboratories in Year 1, way ahead of his peers. There, he pursued his interest in nuclear fusion by doing research on radiation shielding! His contribution was so impressive that he was awarded the prestigious DSO scholarship which gave him an allowance and another internship stint at DSO in Year 3.
As a second year student, Julian is already breaking barriers, and is a living proof that with the right environment, passion and dream can definitely take one to great places.
