I can pursue my interest

After working as a manufacturing process engineer for four years, 28-year old Alicia Chua decided to switch to the biopharmaceutical industry. She found a new passion to create novel technologies that would improve the quality of lives.

Without prior experience, Alicia found it a struggle to make the switch until she interviewed with biotechnology company, Lion TCR. The company hired Alicia as she had the aptitude and attitude to be reskilled. The company then sent Alicia for SP’s unique Professional Conversion Programme, which offers a pathway for mid-careerists to make a switch to the biopharmaceutical industry.

Alicia is now more confident in her daily job where she is assisting researchers in a clinical trial to develop a new method to treat liver cancer.

On SP’s programme, Alicia shared, “It has allowed companies to hire mid-career professionals like me, who has no prior knowledge in this field. The training has helped me switch industry smoothly and equipped me with the relevant skills to do my new job well. I am excited to play a part in creating a cure for cancer!”
