It was a rocky start for Amanda when she mixed with bad company at a young age. But, she made a turnaround after an incident and became the national top ‘N’ Level student. Due to her weight issues, she chose to study SP’s Diploma in Nutrition, Health & Wellness (DNHW). Amanda emerged at the top of her graduating cohort in 2015.
Today, she is an undergraduate at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
“The thought of becoming a doctor never crossed my mind. It was only at SP where my interest in cell biology and immunology grew. I realised I could help people beyond managing their diet and food, and so the decision to venture into medicine,” Amanda shared.
Amanda is the founder of the popular SP Sign Language Club. “I faced resistance from some friends initially the idea was mooted. But, with the poly’s support, the club was set-up and started to expand from ten members to over a hundred members today.”
