Dancing To The Top

Dancing to the top

“I can rock this dance floor!”

Yeap, it was a dream come true for Sharmaine Chua. As a kid, Sharmaine always had an interest in dance but did not have the chance to pursue it. Upon entering SP, she was able to live out her dream with the SP dance club, Strictly Dance Zone. “It was definitely an unforgettable journey; dancing and growing with the club members – from failing to qualify for a competition till achieving second place the following year in the same competition. We have all grown and made great memories as a club,” Sharmaine shared.

The Diploma in Mechatronics and Robotics (DMRO) course alumna is currently pursuing her degree in Engineering Product Development in SUTD and is the President of Uni dance club. Despite her university demands, Sharmaine is still playing a big role in SDZ.

As an SP alumna, she returns to mentor the SDZ juniors, giving them advice on leadership and mastering new dance genres. She also helps out in SDZ’s Arts Fiesta performance annually. Taking on the role of stage manager, she works behind the scenes. “I never thought that I would make it so far in my dance journey. It always feels good to be back in SP and to be part of Arts Fiesta. After all, this was where my dance journey started!” You can now catch #SDZ’s mindblowing performance at the auditorium on 24 Nov.

SP has many CCAs on offer, pick one and embark on a journey larger than life. Visit us at #SPOH20 this 9 – 11 Jan, 10am – 6pm! #speye #singaporepoly
